Quick and easy Hummus

This is simply the easiest and most flavorful hummus I have had.  I do like store bought hummus but awhile back I had bought some garbanzo beans from the Amish store near us.  I don’t like canned foods much because of the sodium content but they are good in a pinch if you rinse them off before eating them.  The garbanzo’s I had bought I soaked, and cooked.  Then placed in baggies in the freezer for later.  So yesterday I pulled out a baggie (the equivalent of a 15 ounce can of Garbanzo beans)

Ingredients :

1 – 15 ounce can of Garbanzo beans (Chickpeas)

3 cloves garlic

1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

1/4 cup tahini paste

1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh)

Dash of salt (optional)

Fresh Cilantro leaves (optional)

paprika (optional)

In a food processor place garbanzo beans, olive oil, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, & salt.  Pulse until it is just about smooth.  (if it is too thick you can add 1 tbsp. of water and pulse again until desired thickness)  Add in the cilantro and pulse a few more times to blend it in and chop it up a bit.   Put in a container and sprinkle paprika on top (as much as you like or leave it off you don’t like it).

This makes enough for 5 – 1/2 cup servings.  21 day fix = 1 yellow, 1/2 blue, 1/2 red!  🙂

    1. Awwwwee….Thank you for the nomination, that is so sweet. I agree about the hummus, texture is definitely important in all foods. It has to be just right to sate whatever craving might be happening. 🙂
